As any RVer knows, one of the challenges of traveling in any size RV or camper is keeping everything organized. It’s easy for things to get cluttered and disorganized when you’re on the road, so it’s important to be intentional about staying organized. In this blog post, we’ll share some tips and tricks for keeping your RV organized while you travel. Whether you’re a full-time RVer or just enjoy occasional trips in your RV, these tips will help you keep your space tidy and clutter-free. So let’s get started!
Using Vertical Space
Making use of vertical space is an easy way to create more room in your RV. The walls in your RVs can hold more than just decorative touches! I use hooks and lightweight containers on my RV walls to stay organized and find room for our sunglasses, hats, maps, remotes, and other items that aren’t too heavy. Key hooks are perfect for scarves, jewelry, lanyards, and light sweaters. The bathroom walls are another great place for storage in your camper. We use shelves and baskets with suction cups in the shower to keep shampoo bottles, loofahs, and body wash on hand.
One often overlooked area for interior storage is your doors. I use over-the-door hooks in every room for towels and hanging organizers for clothing, toys, cleaning supplies, and so much more! These storage solutions come in every shape and size so you can choose the ones that work best for you.
If you can’t find the right solution browsing RV-specific products, simply think of your RV as one of those cute modular homes with loft space, and you’ll get tons of ideas to make the most of the vertical space in your camper.
Storage Bins Are Your Friend
One of the first things I did when we bought our new fifth wheel was to measure all my cabinets (they are so plentiful in fifth wheels) and purchase bins for all of them. The Container Store and Ikea are great places to buy storage bins in all sizes, but you can also find great ones at Amazon like these fabric bins I use in our closets. I also bought some woven ones from Ikea that add a decorative touch and look nice on top of my kitchen cabinets.
RV Kitchen Storage
Campers are notorious for having very little kitchen and pantry storage. This is another great area where you can use the previously mentioned over-the-door hanging organizers. There are also so many great organizers that add additional space by stacking items in your cabinets. Just search for “small kitchen organizers” in Google or on Amazon, and you’re sure to find what you need to store more food and utensils in your small RV kitchen space.
RV Basement Storage
Finally, we all know that that the best storage in a motorhome or fifth wheel is under the living space (aka RV basement). One of the most important things about the basement is that you don’t want things to be “out of sight and out of mind.” That means it is important to keep it organized and make sure everything you need is easily accessible. Stacy of You, Me, and the RV has some genius RV basement organization tips in the video for you.

So while things are a little better now, I can still use an RV Organization Intervention. I’m missing the homemaker gene. I didn’t do a good job organizing my big sticks & bricks home and I’m not doing much better with the tiny home on wheels.
